Ensure that users are well-informed about the type of data and cookies information that is collected when they visit your website by adding and customizing a privacy page and cookie notification in the privacy settings.
A privacy page helps to make sure that your website visitors understand what kind of information is being collected, how it is done and safeguarded, and what the rights of the user and website owner are. A cookie notification appears at the top of the page when a user visits your website to let them know that information about their visit will be collected in the form of cookies – small pieces of data that a website assigns to the user’s device during their visit.
These privacy features will help you to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), now in effect across the EU, but you should check the legal requirements in the country (or countries) of your target audience.
To add or update the privacy page on your website, click the Settings tab in the left menu, go to the Privacy Settings page, and enable the toggle button next to ‘Customize Privacy Page’.
This will prompt you to customize the privacy page with your own details. If your website did not have a privacy page until now, one will automatically be created. If you are ready to change the default text of the page, click on ‘Customize’. Otherwise, click on ‘Not now’ and edit the text at a later time.
For your convenience, everything that needs to be edited is highlighted in red:
Make the necessary changes and when you republish your website, the privacy page will be added or updated.
Any additional changes can be made at any time by clicking on the Customize button on the Privacy Settings page:
The default link for the privacy page is [yourdomain]/privacy, but this can be changed to any custom link in the Privacy page URL box:
You can revert the changes you have made on the default privacy page at any time by clicking on ‘Reset to original page’.
Notificaciones de cookies
To enable cookie notifications on your website, enable the toggle button next to ‘Activate cookie notification’. Once you do that, every visitor to your website will see a notification that the information about their visit will be collected in the form of cookies.
Click 'Preview' to see a preview of the cookie notification on all devices. The cookie notification should appear as a top bar above the content of your website.
You can choose to use default text for the cookie notification or to customize it by editing the text or adding a link.
- Check the legal requirements in the country (or countries) of your target audience regarding cookie notifications, the form of the notification, and relevant links to add to the text of the notification. Also check local laws in regard to the privacy page.
